Not the end to the weekend that was hoped for, but Qatar remains a happy hunting ground for Oscar. He has accomplished a hat-trick of sprint wins since his debut in 2023 and beat the track record not once, but twice this weekend. Saturday’s quali lap set the new record with a 1m19.387s.

Sprint Quali…

“A great start to the weekend. The car felt very good throughout all of Sprint Qualifying, so thank you to the team. The pace has been there all day, so it was good to be able to put it together. We’ll review overnight to see what we can do to make sure we finish at the front in the Sprint tomorrow and set ourselves up properly for Qualifying.”

Sprint & GP Quali…

“A great result to be on Pole and to have won the Sprint. I’ve been able to get comfortable in the car really easily here and the pace has been mega. Driving around here in these conditions is some of the most fun you can have in an F1 car, so it seems to have all clicked well. However, the big points are in the main race, so let’s see what we can do tomorrow. Just got to keep focused, do what we can overnight and make sure we finish first.”

The race…

“We had the pace for the win today, we just didn’t make the right call. I tried my best to catch Max, and we left it all out there, so it’s painful not to get the win. Final push next week, I’ll try and drive like I did this weekend and see what comes.”
