Oscar Piastri’s sensational early career accomplishments in the world’s premier motorsport category will be honoured with a grandstand named after him at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit from 2026.
Piastri, who was born and raised in Melbourne, is in his third season of Formula 1® and has already matched or surpassed the number of career wins by some of his fellow Australian racers. Sitting at the top of the driver’s leaderboard with 14 out of 24 races complete for the 2025 season, and with his McLaren team comfortably leading the Constructors Championship, Piastri’s podium-winning streak shows no signs of slowing down.
The Piastri Grandstand will be located on the main straight, opposite pit lane. The popular Fangio Grandstand will remain, with the structure growing in capacity and sectioned into two – Piastri and Fangio, with the Piastri Grandstand incorporating the most premium and sought after seats closest to the start line.
Piastri will join a number of other Australian drivers who have a grandstand named after them around the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, including Jack Brabham, Arthur Waite, Alan Jones, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber.
“I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix. It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.” “Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.”
“Thanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. The Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is just an extra reason why I can’t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.” - Oscar Piastri
“It’s magnificent news for the event and for Oscar. It’s a reflection of his results so far, incredibly early in his career, that he’s managed to have the amount of podiums and victories that he’s had. Clearly he is very comfortable at the elite level, and making his presence felt which is brilliant, and representing Australia in the way that the country likes to be represented.”
“I think it will all sink in when the event is underway and the people in the grandstand can be opposite Oscar’s pit box. It will be an added bonus for the fans and Oscar alike.” - Mark Webber
“It’s fantastic to see Oscar being honoured with his own grandstand at Albert Park. He’s already achieved so much in such a short time, and this recognition puts him alongside some of Australia’s greats.”
“My father Sir Jack would be very proud to see another Aussie making waves on the world stage, and I’m sure even more fans will be out in force to support him after this year.” - David Brabham, son of former World Champion Jack Brabham
“The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix is a celebration of Melbourne’s best – our world-class hospitality, our food and drink, our unmatched passion for sport – so it’s fitting this grandstand recognises the achievements of one of our most successful local motorsport legends.” “Whether you want to be one of the first fans to experience the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix from the Piastri Grandstand, or are simply looking to lock in your annual Park Pass, get ready because these tickets will be hot.” - Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos
“Oscar has achieved incredible success in his early career across karting, F3, F2 and now in F1. It is only fitting that we honour Oscar’s incredible rise in the sport with a dedicated grandstand at his home Grand Prix.”
“Australians take enormous pride in supporting our sporting talent as they compete on the world stage, and now Oscar’s fans here at home will have the opportunity to take that support to another level by sitting in a grandstand named in his honour.”
“Just a few weeks remain until tickets go on-sale for the 2026 race, and with higher interest than ever before in the event, we have worked hard to ensure we have a huge range of ticket options available, starting at just $45.” - Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Travis Auld
