Brazil hosts Round 21 of the 2023 F1 World Championship and here’s the all-important info you need ahead of Oscar’s debut in Sao Paulo.

  • The 4.309km, anti-clockwise Autódromo José Carlos Pace consists of 15 corners (10 left-handers, five right-handers)
  • The circuit was built in 1938 and designed with inspiration from three other circuits: Brooklands in the UK, the Roosevelt Raceway in the US and Montlhéry in France
  • Formula 1 first visited Interlagos for a World Championship race in 1973
  • There are 43m in elevation change between the track’s highest point (Turn 1) and lowest point (Turn 5)
  • This is the last of the six Sprint weekends on the 2023 calendar following previous races at Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Qatar and COTA
  • The drivers will spend around 68% of the lap at full throttle in Sao Paulo

On the Autódromo José Carlos Pace…

“It’s an old-school track with lots of history and character and one of the classics that I’ve grown up watching. I can remember lots of big moments from years gone by all around the lap.

The circuit’s twisting and undulating layout is cool too. The banking, camber changes and undulation make this such a unique proposition.”

On the triple-header…

“It’s been a busy few weeks for the whole team with three consecutive races in America, Mexico and now Brazil and it’s great to be at another new track for me.

I’ve never raced here but the atmosphere is known for being electric and I am expecting no different this week.”

On the Sprint weekend…

“I’ve had some great moments this year on Sprint Saturdays like Spa and Qatar and so, I’m looking forward to another.

The track should allow for overtaking opportunities and some good wheel-to-wheel racing which will be fun.”
