It’s straight back to action for Oscar as he heads to the Mexico City Grand Prix in the second race of the triple-header. Here are all the stats and facts to get you race ready.

  • The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track is clockwise, 4.304km long and has 17 corners (seven left-handers, 10 right-handers)
  • Alongside Barcelona and Montréal, this is one of only three circuits on the F1 calendar constructed upon former Olympic venues
  • At over 2,200km above sea level (7218ft), it is the highest location that F1 races at, with grip levels affected by the high altitude
  • This will be the 24th Mexican Grand Prix after the first F1 World Championship race took place in Mexico at the same site in 1963
  • The run down to Turn 1 is 890m with the drivers at full throttle for circa 45% of the lap
  • The circuit winds itself through the old Foro Sol baseball stadium, creating one of the sport’s most unique sections

On the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez…

“One of the biggest things with the track is obviously the altitude. The air is much thinner and that changes how the car feels with a lot less grip so that is going to be a good test.

I think all the teams will be running higher downforce levels on their cars this weekend so it will be interesting to see how we go.”

On the atmosphere and fans…

“The stadium section looks awesome. There are so many fans there and the noise is incredible. The layout creates a natural amphitheatre, and I can’t wait to drive through there.

By the sounds of it, the interest and passion for F1 takes over the whole city so I can’t wait to experience it.”

On back-to-back races…

“It was obviously a shame to have to retire in Austin so I could not be happier to have another race this weekend and get back to business.

It’s another new track and new challenge and I can’t wait.”
