Key moments:

  • Oscar crossed the finish line P5 in another solid drive at the front end of the grid.
  • It was a sensational start from the rookie, moving from P4 to P2 with a stunning move down the inside of Turn 1.
  • He continued to pull out a gap and managed his tyres well but then picked up floor damage in his second stint.
  • The third stint saw him have the faster cars of Perez and Hamilton to contend with. He put up a valiant fight but was managing his tyres and car to lock in a top 5 result.
  • Another big haul of points for Oscar and McLaren as the upgraded car continues to show progress as we move onto Spa next weekend.

“Another decent haul of points! It is great to be battling it out at the sharp end of the grid. To do so on different styles of track and various conditions is very encouraging.

It seems like I picked up some floor damage in the middle stint which certainly wasn’t optimal but, of course, I kept pushing as hard as I could.

The team have done an amazing job on the car and I am excited for next week and the season ahead.”
