Key moments:
- Despite suffering from illness throughout the weekend, Oscar finishes the Azerbaijan GP P11 in another solid display
- Achieved a top 10 finish in the season’s first sprint race on Saturday and qualified impressively for both races
- Lost one position on the opening lap of the GP after being clipped into Turn 2
- Pitted on Lap 9 for hard tyres to cover other cars but lost out when the Safety Car was called two laps later
- Managed his tyres patiently during the mid-section of the race as a train of cars waited for Ocon and Hulkenberg to pit
- Got past Hulkenberg with three laps left but Tsunoda and another points finish was just out of grasp
The race through OP’s visor
“I’ve not been feeling great all weekend so despite it being frustrating to finish today’s race just outside of the points, I am happy with another solid drive and more generally, another positive weekend considering qualifying and the sprint race.Back to News
The Safety Car period in today’s race obviously did not work in our favour as we had just pitted but sometimes that is how things pan out.
It was then a race all about tyre management and waiting for the cars ahead, who needed to pit, to come in. I felt I did that well and it was shame that we didn’t have enough time left to attack for P10.
The priority for me will now be to get some rest and recovery in the next few days and hopefully arrive in Miami feeling in better shape ahead of a race that I’m really looking forward to.”
